- St. Tammany Parish Bicentennial

Wednesday, September 1

In December of this year, St. Tammany Parish will become 200 years old.

We will kick off our celebrations tonight at the parish building at 21490 Koop Drive from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.  Co-sponsored by both the East and West Chambers of Commerce as well as Inside Northside Magazine, this will be a fun event that is open to the public.

Tonight we will unveil our new Cultural Icons project which recognizes those who have both called St. Tammany home and have made a significant contribution to our nation's culture.  The first named Icons are Tony Canzoneri, Dr. Walker Percy, Louis Prima, "Pistol Pete" Maravich and Clarence "Gatemouth Brown."  Learn more about them at http://www.stpgov.org/departments_cultural_icons.php

Also unveiled will be a Bicentennial website http://www.stpgov.org/bicentennial ...    -  Continue
